Privacy Policy
What data we collect, how it's used, and your rights as a reader.
Overview
ModernPeptideScience is a content site. Most pages can be read without providing any personal information — the site does not require account creation, login, or registration to access content. The two contexts in which we collect personal information are: (1) the optional newsletter signup, and (2) basic web analytics for understanding site usage.
This page describes what data is collected, how it's used, who has access to it, and how you can opt out.
Newsletter and email collection
The site offers an optional newsletter signup powered by MailerLite, a third-party email service provider. When you subscribe:
- What's collected: Your email address, the date of subscription, and confirmation of explicit consent to receive emails.
- How it's used: To deliver periodic newsletter content about peptide research and site updates.
- Who has access: ModernPeptideScience editorial team and MailerLite (the service provider). MailerLite stores your email address on its servers and processes it according to its privacy policy.
- How long it's kept: Until you unsubscribe. After unsubscribing, MailerLite retains the record of your subscription and unsubscription for record-keeping purposes; we do not actively use that data.
- Opt out: Every newsletter email contains an unsubscribe link. Clicking it removes you from the list immediately. You can also email info@modernpeptidescience.com to request removal.
We do not sell, rent, or share email addresses with third parties beyond the service provider relationship with MailerLite. We do not use email addresses for purposes other than the newsletter.
Web analytics
The site is hosted by Netlify, which provides basic visitor analytics. These analytics include aggregate, anonymous information such as page views, geographic regions (country-level), referring sites, and basic device categories (mobile, desktop, browser type). This data is used to understand which content is being read and how visitors find the site.
What is not collected: The site does not currently use cross-site tracking cookies, behavioral advertising trackers, or services that build individual user profiles. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or similar identity-tracking tools at this time.
If the site adds additional analytics tools in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated to describe what they collect.
Cookies
The site uses minimal cookies. Specifically:
- Theme preference cookie: If you toggle between light and dark mode, your preference is stored locally in your browser so it persists across visits. This is a local-storage preference, not transmitted to our servers or any third party.
- MailerLite cookies (if you interact with the newsletter form): MailerLite may set its own cookies for form functionality. See MailerLite's privacy policy for details.
- Netlify infrastructure cookies: Netlify may set technical cookies necessary for site delivery (e.g., CDN routing, security). These don't track individual user identities for advertising purposes.
The site does not use third-party advertising cookies, social-media tracking cookies, or behavioral profiling cookies.
External links and content
Pages on this site link extensively to external resources — PubMed-indexed research articles, FDA documents, manufacturer press releases, and other research databases. We have no control over the privacy practices of these external sites. Once you click an external link, the privacy policy of the destination site governs your interaction with that site.
Your rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: You can request a copy of any personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: You can request that we correct inaccurate information.
- Deletion: You can request that we delete your personal information. For newsletter subscribers, this means unsubscribing and being removed from our mailing list.
- Opt-out: You can opt out of the newsletter at any time using the unsubscribe link or by emailing us.
For visitors in jurisdictions with specific data-protection regulations (EU/UK under GDPR, California under CCPA, others), you have additional rights as described under those regulations. Email info@modernpeptidescience.com to exercise any of these rights or to ask questions about how your data is handled.
Data retention
We retain personal information only as long as needed to provide the service:
- Email addresses: until you unsubscribe (then retained by MailerLite for record-keeping only)
- Anonymous analytics data: retained by Netlify per their data retention policies
- Correspondence (e.g., emails you send us): retained as needed to respond and maintain records of editorial decisions
Children's privacy
The site is intended for adult readers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions where that age threshold applies). If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will delete it. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the services we use, or relevant regulations. Material changes will be reflected in the page's last-updated date. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. For substantive changes affecting newsletter subscribers, we will notify subscribers via the newsletter.
